Baskets needed for Crab Boil

posted Jan 13, 2013, 4:17 PM by   [ updated Jan 13, 2013, 4:42 PM ]

Our annual Crab Boil is coming up this February, and each class is providing a "basket" with a different theme as part of a fundraiser for our Garden Aide. If you are interested in helping, it would be greatly appreciated. There are two ways to contribute: 1. donate $5 to your child's teacher, or 2. talk to your child's teacher to find out what "theme" your class needs, and purchase specific items for your class. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Feel free to contact the school or office for more information as well.

Rachel's Challenge is an anti bullying awareness program and assembly that will be visiting the entire MUSD School District this September. Rachel's Challenge began as a result of the Columbine massacre in Colorado and carries a very important message. Please feel free to attend this assembly with us on September 10 at 2:30 p.m. in our multi use room. There is also a community meeting which I encourage you to attend on September 11 from 6 - 7 p.m. in the Tallman Gym (adjacent to the high school). Stay Active, Eat Healthy!

posted Jun 28, 2012, 6:08 AM by

With the end of school comes a lot more free time to sit around and watch television, play video games, and snack. Keep the focus away from food and plan activities that highlight healthy lifestyles. Here are some tips for staying healthy during the summer months:
  • Fresh produce is easier to come by in summer. Plant a garden or visit a local farmer's market. Enjoy your favorite fruits and vegetables or challenge yourself to try a new one each week.
  • Visit a local farm, garden or orchard to learn about fruits and vegetables that grow in your area.
  • Have children make a collage or write a story about what they plan to do over the summer, with the focus on active activities.
  • Play an outdoor game/activity to enjoy the warmer weather.
  • Plan a nature walk to see plants re-awaken in the warm weather
  • Plant a garden or sign up to help out at your school or local community garden.
