Dear Cobb Families,

Welcome back! I’m excited for the many staffing changes that have taken place in our district. We have new leadership at the district level. Catherine Stone, our new Superintendent, was selected by the MUSD School Board in late spring. She began working in the district office at the beginning of July. As many of you are aware, Mrs. Tan has transferred to the new Minnie Cannon Elementary School campus in Middletown. We will all miss her presence on campus a great deal, and we’re grateful that she’s not left our district. She’ll be visiting from time to time, so please make her feel welcome when you see her.

I have been selected to be the new principal at our site. It’s a great honor to be chosen for this position. There is no other place I’d rather be than at Cobb School, and I’m honored to be the leader of such an incredible institution. For those of you who know me, I love my teaching and do my utmost to serve my students’ best interest. My commitment to the students, staff, and families of our school continues to be providing the best possible educational experience for our students. As a lifelong learner, I realized it was time for me to venture into a new area of the educational system. The strong encouragement of the staff and community helped me make the difficult decision to leave the classroom. I’ll do my best to be an active participant in the classrooms whenever possible. We’re currently hiring a qualified teacher for the Kindergarten position.

We’re also excited to welcome Rebecca Brickhill to the teaching staff at Cobb.  She was selected in late spring to take a teaching position at Cobb School. Rebecca has an extensive career in Elementary Education working both locally and in the Bay Area. We’re really excited to have her join the teaching team at Cobb. I had the opportunity to observe her teach in a TK classroom last spring and was thoroughly impressed with her kind demeanor, the level of student engagement, and her classroom management.  Please introduce yourself and make her feel welcome when you see her.

Class assignments will be posted on the bulletin board at 4 pm on Friday, August 14th. School begins on August 18th at 8:45 am. Recess begins at 8:30 am. Please bring your child promptly so we can get off to a great start.  I’m looking forward to a fantastic year working with you. As always, please feel free to contact me with any suggestions, questions, or concerns you have.
