October is Communicate with Your Kids Month! Talk to your teen about making good decisions about school and life. Help your teen understand the changes in their brain during this period of their life as an adolescent. Encourage them to use their thinking skills to tackle problems. Refrain from solving the problem for them. Discuss the positives and negatives of different choices and remind them that every choice has a consequence, good or bad. Talk about consequences and the need to accept responsibility for choices.
Healthy Start staff is available to assist families with resource information and linkages on Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
